An Urgent Letter to Klal Yisrael: A Call for Retrospective Change and Tikkun

4 min read

Shalom Klal Yisrael,

In these tumultuous times, it is imperative we pause and reflect on the deeper meanings and messages embedded in the events unfolding around us. Like the Psalms of Solomon, our lives and experiences are layered with divine significance, calling us to understand the workings of Hashem’s concealed light in our personal and collective journeys.

The recent harrowing events of October 7th, 2023 – the firing of 3000 rockets, attacks on our military bases, tragic loss of lives, breaches in our borders, and the plight of hostages – are not merely political or security challenges. They are, when viewed through the lens of our Torah and tradition, symbolic messages from Hashem, urging us to introspection and change.

The barrage of rockets can be seen as a metaphor for the destructive power of lashon hara and sinat chinam. These transgressions fragment our unity, just as rockets shatter our peace. The attacks on our military bases remind us of our potential deviation from the values of our patriarchs – Avraham’s compassion, Isaac’s dedication, and Jacob’s truth. These incidents call us to reunite in the spirit of Torah and to rebuild our ‘house’ with Hashem as our guide, embodying the message of Psalm 127.

The breaches in our borders symbolize the gaps in our spiritual and ethical conduct. They are a poignant reminder of our leaders’ responsibility in guiding us towards a path of righteousness and justice. It is a call for our religious and secular leaders to introspect and realign with the Torah’s teachings, ensuring that their guidance fills these gaps, strengthening our communal and national fabric.

The profound loss of life is a stark reminder of the spiritual death that occurs when we stray from the path of Torah and mitzvot. Each life lost should strengthen our resolve to embrace life – a life of spiritual fulfillment, Torah study, and mitzvah observance. Similarly, the plight of the hostages reflects our collective spiritual captivity to materialism and secular values. It is a clarion call for us to liberate ourselves from these bonds and return to a life imbued with spirituality and divine purpose.

These events, as interpreted in the spirit of Joseph and Avraham, are not random occurrences but divinely orchestrated signs. They are Hashem’s way of communicating the urgent need for teshuvah (repentance) and a return to our spiritual roots. Just as Joseph’s interpretations of dreams led to salvation and preparedness, so too should our understanding of these events lead to a collective awakening and a recommitment to our covenant with Hashem.

In light of these insights, we must embark on a journey of tikkun – repairing our individual and communal transgressions. This journey starts with acknowledging our shortcomings and seeking forgiveness – from Hashem and from each other. We must strive to replace baseless hatred with unconditional love, slander with words of kindness, and division with unity.

Let us remember that every challenge is an opportunity for growth and every event, a lesson in faith. Let us embrace this moment as a catalyst for change, leading us towards a future of peace, redemption, and divine blessing.

May our collective efforts in introspection, teshuvah, and tikkun hasten the arrival of the Messianic era, a time of ultimate peace and understanding. Let us unite in this sacred mission, ensuring that our actions, words, and thoughts align with the divine will, bringing light and healing to ourselves, our nation, and the world.

With prayers for peace, unity, and redemption,
– Dovid

Antisemitism, in addition to being an obsession, is also a language—a language that damages the ability to understand other people. It has idioms, vocabulary, abbreviations, and a syntax all its own. I pray that G-d will confuse the tongues of those who speak this execrable language so that they stop building their tower of hate. I cry out we JEWS are in deep trouble. OUR LIVES AND THE LIVES OF OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN ARE IN JEOPARDY. The time machine of history has brought us back to 1933 Germany; 1938 Kristallnacht is approaching if not already here. I have been cautioning this was happening, but most refused to listen. America is no longer the Goldena medina for us. In EUROPE there is nowhere to run where antisemitism has not raised its ugly head. All the prayers and rallies will not help unless we JEWS arm ourselves to the teeth. We need to walk and travel in pairs or groups. Avoid the ivy league schools where there are both professors and students who wish to destroy us. The fact that millionaires are withdrawing their donations means nothing as that money will be replaced by funds from Arab and MUSLIM states which us harm and the destruction of ISRAEL. Most probably face book will not be happy with this message and put me in Facebook jail. Please consider Aliyah, much of my own family is already there. I am old and not in the best of health but I fight for Jewish existence day and night. If I was a young man in good health I would start a JDL world wide. We have a few militants but not enough. In this country and other countries professors are teaching the young that HAMAS are victims and we JEWS are the Nazis. Babies are branded by HAMAS, WOMEN RAPED AND THE WORLD IS BASICALLY SILENT. In Europe and AMERICA AND IN FACT AROUND THE WORLD JEWS are being beaten up or murdered and Judges require very little in way of punishment. Please listen to my warning this time before it is too late.

One thing I have learned since October 7: when you’re fighting for everyone else, you’re everyone’s friends. When it’s your turn to need support, you find out who your real friends actually are.

Antisemitism is an obsession. Only an obsession could motivate someone to declare a Global Day of Terror against Jews worldwide, forcing me and many other rabbis to procure police assistance or private security to protect our communities.

Antisemitism is out in the open, are you ready to fight back?

There is just so much wrong with the way the world and especially Women’s organizations and human rights organizations have responded (not responded) to the murder, torture and sexual violence of October 7. And the fact that none of these “stellar” organization’s leadership have spoken out to have the hostages released, when they know damn well what is happening to the them, is an outrage. We will remember. But first we fight and we’ll do everything and anything possible to bring our hostages home safely.

I cry out, we JEWS are in deep trouble. I am keeping many posters on my windows, for the hostages, numerous Chanukah menorahs in my window, keeping mezuzahs up and wearing my skull cap. WE MUST FIGHT TOGETHER. HAVE JEWISH PRIDE, COURAGE AND DETERMINATION.

If ISRAEL IS ATTACKED ON ALL SIDES AND LOSES, WE JEWS AROUND THE WORLD ARE NEXT. THE ISRAELI SOLDIERS AND CIVILINANS AND THE HOSTAGES ARE DYING KIDDUSH HASHEM SO THAT WE MAY LIVE. Please put out flags, posters and ribbons as a symbol of support.

May be an image of text that says ‘More than 80% of the money that Jewish people give goes to non-Jewish causes. Many of these organizations have been silent (or worse) since October 7th. It’s time to look out for ourselves because we are the only ones who will.
